Sudan’s Kiir, Jordanian speakers discuss bilateral ties

May 23, 2006 (AMMAN) — Sudanese First Vice President Salav Kiir Mayardit held talks Tuesday with the heads of the two legislatives chambers on bilateral ties and economic opportunities in the Sudan.

Kiir_Paris.jpgMayardit urged the Jordanian parliament to boost the role of the Jordanian private sector for more investment in the Sudan which offers many privileges and real investment opportunity for all investor, given the fact that Sudan has rich untapped resources.

The First Vice President who met with the Jordanian speaker of the House of Representatives, Abdel Hadi Al Majali, has pointed to the depth of relations that link Sudan and Jordan and expressed appreciation for the supportive role Jordan provides for the Sudan to enable it face the current challenges and overcome hurdles it encounters.

In his meeting with the Speaker of the Jordanian House of Notables, Zayed Riffae, Mayardit has expressed hope that relations between the two countries would be boosted to serve the interest of the two sister countries in the various domains stressing the brotherly relations that link Khartoum with Amman.

First Vice President Kiir has meanwhile explained the efforts exerted by the government for the implementation of the Darfur Peace Agreement, which seeks to end the violence there. He also stressed that the government was doing its best to implement the Comprehensive Peace Agreement CPA so that it would work for the rehabilitation and development in the country.

The Jordanian parliamentarians stressed that Jordan under the leadership of King Abdullah II, seeks to boost joint Arab work and that the Jordanian endeavours seek to help Sudan overcome its current circumstances, stressing that Jordan backs and understands the questions relevant to the Sudan.

The First Vice President, who arrived late Sunday for the three-day visit, also held separate talks with King Abdullah II and Jordanian Prime Minister Maaruf Bakhit.
