Bashir, Salva Kiir to meet political forces

June 4, 2006 (KHARTOUM) – Sudanese President and First Vice President are to meet the political leaders of political leaders to discuss implementation of the co peace process in southern and western Sudan.

Kiir_al_bashir.jpgSecretary of the Political Communication of the ruling National Congress Party (NCP), Mustafa Osman Ismail, said in press statement that President of the Republic and Chairman of the National Congress, Omer al-Bashir, and the First Vice – President, Chairman of Sudan Liberation Movement (SPLM), Salva Kiir, are due to hold a joint meeting with the leaders of the political forces next week.

Ismail pointed out the Joint NCP – SPLM Committee met on Sunday at the Council of Ministers, co-chaired by Deputy Chairman of the NC for Political and Organizational Affairs, Nafie Ali Nafie, and the Secretary General of SPLM Bagan Amom.

The meeting reviewed documents of the recent joint meeting of the NCP and the SPLM Political Bureaus and to set up partnership institutions their tasks in the coming period, he added.

He added that the meeting in implementation of the decisions of the recent two partners’ meeting of the two partners, which Ismail described it as positive and fruitful.

He commended the meeting between the First Vice – President, Salva Kiir, with leaders of the armed movements in Darfur, disclosing that there is no room for making amendments or changes in Darfur peace agreement, which was signed in Abuja.

The decision to meet the different Sudanese political forces was taken during the joint NCP-SPLM of tackle national issue. According to the SPLM, partnership for the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement with the ruling National Congress party does not mean total exclusion of the political forces.
