Sudan Lakes State to promote agriculture among youth

June 8, 2006 (RUMBEK) — The Lakes Minister of Agriculture Khamis Albdulatif Chawuol Lom say in an interview with Sudan Tribune correspondent in Lake State that he came back from Khartoum with the firm intention to promote Agriculture activities among Lakes State youth.
The regional minister said southern Sudan is the first source of regional prosperity and southerner instead of waste their in inter-tribal fighting they will do better by cultivating our rich land. “If we, people of the Lakes, want prosperity and bright future for our children, then let us join hands and cultivate our country for the welfare of all”
He added that hunger was been inside South Sudan for some many year of civil war since 1982. “We had been in war for 22 years civil war and we had find nothing in hand of Southern Sudanese people, I just see only people are dieing in South and in Northern Sudan which was the sound of shying objective in Sudan”.
Khamis is from the National Congress Party (NCP) and is been chosen by his party to work with SPLM in Lakes State government as the Lakes State minister of Agriculture.
While Khamis speaking, one SPLM former commissioner for Rumbek East County. Mabor Mayen Wol intervened by saying, “We are all the government and the system now in Sudan, we are one party, and let us together fight corruptions in Sudan and work towards the development of our country”.
The NCP is working hard to implemented the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) with SPLM concluded Khamis, we must bear in mind that freedom of choice should be for every Sudanese person. We had fought t during the war each other and now we decided also to bring peace to our country Sudan.
Since the CPA was signed in Nairobi/Kenya on January 9, 2005, the Government of Lakes State agriculture activities are basically funded by the UN Food Agriculture Organization (FAO) which is supplying the region with education materials, IDPs kits, and Agricultural tools.
