Australia warns of potential terrorist attacks in Sudan
SYDNEY, Nov 13 (AFP) — Australia on Thursday upgraded its travel advice for Sudan and warned potential travellers that terrorist attacks against Western interests were being planned in the African country.
“We continue to receive reports of planning for terrorist attacks against Western interests in Sudan,” it said.
A foreign ministry spokesman said the advice was based on “credible” information and that the ministry was particularly concerned about “locations Westerners tend to frequent”.
The United States embassy in Khartoum has suspended operations due to what it called a “specific” threat against American interests in the Sudanese capital.
Australia does not have a diplomatic mission in Khartoum.
