India offers industrial aid to Sudan
NEW DELHI, Nov. 14, 2003 (Asia Pulse) — India on Thursday offered Sudan assistance in promoting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in that countrry.
“We also offer India’s cooperation and experience for the development of Sudanese economy and infrastructure by providing consultancy in telecom, railways, IT, irrigation and power,” a statement issued by Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry statement said here, quoting India’s Junior Minister of Commece’S B Mookherjee.
The minister was speaking at a business meeting hosted by FICCI.
There was a need to combine the efforts for setting up joint ventures in the two countries and other Third world countries for producion of various goods, it said.
Speaking on the occasion, leader of the Sudanese delegation Hashim Ibrahim Hago mentioned the initiative taken by India to enter the field of oil exploration in Sudan.
