Establishment of Lou Nuer Political Action Committee

June 24, 2006 — We, the sons and daughters of Lou Nuer Area and after consultations and extended debate about the future and welfare of Lou Nuer people and area, declare today in this press release, the establishment of Lou Nuer Political Action Committee or Lou Nuer-PAC. The primary goal of this organization is to work for unity and integrity of Lou Nuer people and to mobilize necessary resources and support for development of Lou Nuer Area. Hence we declare our unlimited support for the government of southern Sudan under the leadership of President Salva Kiir Mayardit.

We deem it necessary that if peace and development are going to happen in southern Sudan, it is of important that the wounds and misunderstanding that has happened in the past during the bitter war for struggle should be healed or put aside, southern Sudanese shouldn’t anymore dig into this bitter wounds rather than joint hands and work together for a brighter future for every southern Sudanese in particular and Sudanese in general.

We acknowledges that not only southern Sudanese have different political interests and views but also this is the same with Lou Nuer politicians and people, that is what we called healthy democracy, but it is important that our political differences shouldn’t blinds us from our common destiny and future as one nation whatever this differences might be.

Therefore we also deem it necessary that organizations such as Lou Nuer-PAC should work as mediator and a tool of reconciliation and education. That is by educating and increasing local people awareness both in Scio-economic and political projects that are projected by government or NGOS or politicians

We believe that, People resist any direction for change (positive change) for two reasons, either they think that this projected change will affect them and their interests negatively or either they are not aware that this projected change is for their own interest and development in addition that when people are coming from a war that fit them against each other for this reason or another, it is necessary that suspicions and doubts should be cleared before any strategies are executed, this will remove the likelihood of resistance and misunderstanding. Therefore communications and information to local people about possible projects or strategies for development or security is very vital and necessary.

Lou Nuer-PAC will work very hard to maintain the unity and integrity of Lou Nuer people and for the security and support of their Scio-economic development and their political power and decision.
