Pakistani cement firm shows interest to invest in Sudan
June 27, 2006 (KHARTOUM) — A Sudanese minister discussed with a Pakistani firm delegation potentialities of investment in eastern Sudan where the company is interested to establish a factory.
State Minister at the Ministry of Investment, al-Simeh al-Sidig al-Nur, received Tuesday a visiting delegation from Hericules Cement Group of Pakistan, headed its General Manager Mr. Borhan Khan.
The meeting discussed the investment of the group in Sudan, top of which is a proposed cement factory in Gedariff State at 200 US million dollars with a total capacity of 5000 tones per day.
The Minister affirmed the determination to push forward investments and development in Sudan, pledging to patronize the project.
The Pakistani delegation expressed content with the concessions and incentives stipulated by the Investment Act and promised to transfer the latest know-how and experience in the cement industry to Sudan.
Meanwhile, the Minister further received a delegation from the Emirates and Oman Group, headed by the Chairman of Board of Directors, Sa’eed Bin Marie, who expressed readiness to invest in Sudan in domains of cement industry, petroleum, roads and electronic transactions.
The Minister affirmed Sudan’s concern with investment, highlighting the main features of the Investment Act, affirming that Sudan has attracted many foreign investments following the realization of peace.
