Catholic Church in Sudan’s WES sends a memo to GoSS President
JUNE 2006
Lt. Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit
– First-Vice President of the Republic of Sudan,
President of the Government of Southern Sudan
Chairman and Commander in Chief SPLM/A
Your Excellency,
Our cordial and respectful greetings in the Lord.
We the clergy of the Catholic Church of Tombura Yambio Diocese write to you in order to express our concern and sorrow for the sudden suspension of the Governor of Western Equatoria State. We here quote “The truth shall make you free” JN 8:32. We wish to encourage you at this critical time to respond in faith, truth and love.
We stressed using Christ weapon of love, forgiveness unity equity peace and justice doest not imply that we give in to misunderstanding and unfaithful to the truth.
The following steps would have been taken:-
Investigation should have been made by impartial persons
Suspension should have then followed
The assembly of the state should have been consulted before such a major decision
The inter-state peace and reconciliation conference should have been looked in to clarify the issue.
We expect that the situation will be redressed amicable since the truth does not revile it’s self at this moment.
To mention the fundamental obligation of mutual respect mutual understanding and mutual recognition of each others right and duties are causal to us the Southern Sudanese at this moment.
We here quote “the decision should have taken place after the investigation not before the investigation because the house arrest has revived the anger and the wound which was calmed by the peace and reconciliation conference which was held on the 18th -24th of April 2006 in Yambio. We are not alone as Jesus said, “I am with you always to the end of time” MT. 28:20. We are some times faithful, sometimes unsure, and sometimes deeply worried about the future of our country but we believe and hope that God will resolve all these crises we have faith in the triumph of good over evil.
We wish you God’s choicest blessing and wisdom as you struggle to solve these critical issue in order to ensure development.
Respectfully yours in Jesus Christ the Lord
Regards.
