Azande Community in US’s Maine State urges release of WES Governor

The Azande Community, North American

State of Maine, USA

To: Lt. Gen. Silva Kiir Mayardit

First- Vice President of the Republic of Sudan

President of the Government of South Sudan

Chairman and Commander in-Chief SPLA/M.

Date: 30 June.2006

Your Excellency,

We, members of the above-mentioned community, citizens of the beloved Western Equatorial State in Diaspora, wish to express our deep and strong support of the reinstatement of the Executive degree issued to put col. Patrick Zamoi under house arrest.

We are part and parcel of the Western Equatorial Community at large, are truly convinced that the house arrest of Mr. Zamoi was unwarranted and has no legal back ups.

More over, WES to our best knowledge enjoys wide range of various political systems and legal institution and body of laws. The GoSS should trust these institutions in the taking of the legal matters.

It is obvious that the three-man committee sent to pursue the bigger picture of the investigation did not complete it in a timely manner.

We also believe that the inter-tribal conflicts are the most delicate national issues that require diligence, patience and good intention. This desired end could only be attained if impartial committee members with a strong insight into the plight of the suffering people of the WES are established.

It is to our best knowledge that an independent and impartial reconciliatory committee was formed to pursue matters in connection with the tribal conflicts and other tribal issues yet it has had never functioned to produce desired results.

We also believe that a true unity of the people of the south Sudan depends largely on respect to the very fundamentals of human rights and which ultimately would bring political, social and economic stability.

Your Excellency, the premeditated arrest of Col. Patrick Zamoi and his family, has sent mixed messages, not only to south Sudan but also to the international community as a move against the very virtue of democracy. It is obvious that Governor’s family was also under house arrest, which again questions the integrity of the investigative committee.

We need to assure you that we do have confidence and trust in the your able leadership as the president of south Sudan in handling such issues of national concerns and of significant nature. Hoping that you will review your Executive degree with a proper formation of an impartial fact finding committee.

It is evident that Western equatorian people have faced with difficult security issues and other human right violation, ranging from the abated abuse and assaults by the Lord Resistance Army, the beating of Dominic Dabi and two other ministers and the mysterious killing of gallant heroes, Luka Kpakasiro, John Nambu and others, to mention but a few.

Your Excellency, the patriotism and love of the people of WES for South Sudan is immeasurable. The State of Western Equatoria has always been peaceful with a great sense of fraternity and respect to the non-WES brothers and sisters.

This petition was signed by the concerned citizens of WES in the State of Maine -USA- North American.
