Indian and Sudanese Industrials to set up joint task force

NEW DELHI, Nov. 17, 2003 — The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Sudanese Chamber of Industries Association (SCIA) have set up a joint task force to facilitate increased industrial and economic cooperation with a specific focus on the private sector.
According to a CII release, the joint task force will identify specific projects for industrial cooperation between the private sectors of the two countries with a particular emphasis on joint ventures.
The two chambers have jointly identified agricultural equipment, automobiles, electrical appliances, electronic devices, cold storage and ice making plants, confectionery making equipment, pharmaceuticals, chemicals and food processing as the priority areas for cooperation.
The task force has decided to develop a project which will enable Sudan to make use of India’s expertise in developing its small and medium enterprises (SME) sector.
Cooperation of the Sudan Development Corporation will also be sought in the venture, according to the release.
It added, Sudan is greatly impressed with the outstanding contribution which has been made by the SME sector in strengthening India’s industrial base and Sudanese companies see a great future for mutual cooperation in this area.
