Turkey to establish hospital in South Dafur
July 25, 2006 (KHARTOUM) — Sudanese minister of Health said that a Turkish hospital would be established in the capital of south Darfur, the minister also affirmed Sudan’s intention to boost bilateral ties with Turkey.
The federal Minister of Health, Dr. Thabita Boutros Shokaya announced that a Turkish hospital would be established in Nyala city, the capital of South Darfur State. The minister called for firm ties between Sudan and Turkey in the medical fields, in accordance with the health protocols which were concluded between the two countries.
Dr Thabita has affirmed the keenness of her ministry to put into action the health protocol, which was signed between Sudan and Turkey, which relates to the treatment of 100 patients of critical cases free of charge.
Dr. Thabita said that the visiting Turkish medical delegation is composed of 35 physicians, who will stay in Sudan for seven days during which they will hold workshops, symposiums and treatment of patients.
Meanwhile, the visiting Undersecretary of the Turkish Ministry of Health reflected the desire of his country to consolidate its relations with Sudan in the political, social, health and other domains. He said that a team of 22 Turkish doctors will arrive to operate at Nyala in the coming period.
