Egypt, Ethiopia forge closer bilateral relations
July 27, 2006 (ADDIS ABABA) — The Ethio-Egypt bilateral relations have registered remarkable achievements on various fields of cooperation, the Egyptian embassy said here Wednesday.
The Egyptian embassy said in a press release that the Ethio-Egyptian bilateral relations have been strengthening from time to time based on common interest and mutual benefits.
The press release said a series of meetings and exchange of ideas between senior officials of Egypt and Ethiopia further strengthened mutual understanding between the two countries.
According to the press release, Egyptian officials, including foreign affairs, irrigation, electricity and energy, higher education and others, visited Ethiopia during the first half of this year.
Similarly, Ethiopian ministers and other officials, who visited Egypt during the first half of this year, included ministers of mines and energy, labor and social affairs, water resources, and agriculture, it said.
The volume of trade exchange between the two countries has increased by 20 percent during the first half of this year compared to the same period last year, said the press release.
The deep-rooted Ethio-Egypt bilateral cooperation has become closer than ever before especially in the fields of cultural, religious, social and economic sectors, it added.
