Sudanese militant groups plan to attack areas in Darfur?
KHARTOUM, Nov. 22, 2003 (KUNA) — Some Sudanese militant groups are planning to attack some areas in Darfur, Western Sudan, the Sudanese News Agency said on Saturday.
The Agency quoted some sources, which it did not name, as saying that plans and preparations for this attack are almost complete but the specific targets are still unknown.
The agency said the military operations in Darfur launched by military groups were aimed at providing means of transportation and preparing for attack on these areas.
It said these plans come despite all efforts and steps aimed at achieving peace and stability for citizens in Darfur.
On September 4, 2002, the Sudanese government signed an agreement with Darfur rebels represented by the Sudan Liberation Movement (SLM), which called for a cease-fire and staring a direct dialogue.
Yet there are some other groups outside this agreement continue their military operations against the government.
