Khartoum State experiences heavy rainfall

Aug 12, 2006 (KHARTOUM) — Khartoum State experienced at the early hours of Saturday heavy rainfall over most parts of the state.

The rains led to collapse of houses in a number of areas of the state and some schools were surrounded by water.

Director of Civil Defence Maj. Gen. (Police) Awad Wedatalla said in a statement to SUNA that the rains led to a rise in the level of the Nile water, expecting that the level of the Blue Nile would witness an increase at Sinnar and Blue Nile States in the coming days.

He added that the Civil Defence Administration made an aerial survey Saturday morning covering Khartoum, Omdurman and Khartoum North areas.
