Sudan nominates 3 SPLM ambassadors to Japan, Kenay and Spain
Aug 23, 2006 (KHARTOUM) — Three other Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) ambassadors are nominated to Japan, Kenya and Spain. But,there will be no SPLM ambassador to Kampala for the time being.
According to Sudan Tribune sources, Steven Kiliona Wondu is appointed as Sudan’s ambassador to Japan; Majok Gwandong Thiep will be Sudanese ambassador to Kenay and Andrew Makur Thou to represent Sudan in Spain.
All the newly appointed ambassadors finished their training course in the Sudanese Foreign Ministry; they should soon visit the capital of southern Sudan, Juba, Al-Heglig to visit oil exploitation and Al-Fasher the capital of North Darfur.
Contrary to a report Sudan Tribune published last week on the subject, the SPLM could not obtain Kampala now, because the current ambassador has just spent one year there and he should terminate his tenure there before to be replaced by another one.
With these three ambassadors, the total of the SPLM ambassadors raise to five ambassadors.
Sudan has nominated John Ukac Lueth as Sudan’s ambassador to the USA and Dr. Akec Khoc Acieu as deputy head of Sudan’s delegation to the UN.
The rest of the sixteen SPLM ambassadors would be assigned as and when current ambassadors finish their tenure and back home.
Since last May, President Omar al-Bashir appointed, in different grades, 21 ambassadors, 16 from the SPLM and other Southern political groups and 5 from the ruling National Congress Party (NCP) and the Democratic Unionist Party.
