Sudanese peace talks to resume on Monday 1 Dec 03

KHARTOUM, Nov 29, 2003 — The delegation of the government and the [Sudan’s] People’s [Liberation] Movement will hold a new round of peace negotiations on Monday [1 December] in Nevasha, north of the Kenyan capital Nairobi.

The talks will examines the issues that are still being negotiated before submitting them within five days to the meeting of the leaders attended by First Vice-President Ali Uthman Muhammad Taha and John Garang, the leader of the People’s [Liberation] Movement that will be held on 5 December next.

The first vice-president has predicted that peace would be established before the end of the year if [the two sides] adopt a closer objective look at the reality.

As for Dr Ghazi Salah-al-Din, the presidential peace adviser, he stressed that the level of talks will be raised and a direct approach to the available political options in all the issues that had been discussed technically will adopted in the next round.
