Sudan, Lebanon sign agriculture agreements in Khartoum

KHARTOUM, Nov 29 (AFP) — Sudan and Lebanon signed agricultural agreements in Khartoum on Saturday, official state television reported here.

The agreements were signed after a meeting of Sudanese and Lebanese MPs, presided over by Lebanon’s visiting parliament speaker Nabeh Barre and his Sudanese counterpart Ahmed Ibrahim al-Tahir.

Barre, who arrived here Friday for a three-day official visit, is the most senior Lebanese official to visit Sudan since 1967 when former president Charl Hilu attended an Arab summit hosted by Khartoum.

Sudanese Foreign Minister Mustafa Ismail said he and Barre discussed prospects of cooperating to promot Sudan’s interests abroad, particularly in some Latin American and Asian countries.
