Sudan to revitalize Railways Corporation
Sept 10, 2006 (KHARTOUM) — Sudan decided in a cabinet meeting to study a long-term plan to rehabilitate the Railways Corporation, these studies should encourage the private sector to operate in this field.
In its regular session Sunday, the Council of Ministers also called for taking into consideration the regional dimension of the Railways lines all over Sudan.
The State Minister at the Ministry of Transport, Roads and Bridges, Omer Suleiman, has given a report at the Cabinet’s meeting on the performance and rehabilitation process at the Railways Corporation.
The Council of Ministers has assured its commitment to provide all the requirements for enhancement of the Railways Corporation, which the carrier of lowest price and biggest transport capacity.
The report shed light on the preliminary plan for enhancement of the Railways at the three stages 2007 – 2010, 2011 – 2016 and 2017 – 2026.
