Sudan’s WES draft constitution handed to justice minister
Sept 23, 2006 (KHARTOUM) — A delegation from Western equatorial State has handed to the Sudanese minister of justice the draft constitution of Western Equatoria State for 2006
The Minister of Justice, Mohamed Ali Al-Mardi, received at his office Saturday delegation of the Legislative Assembly of West Equatoria State, headed by Deputy Chairman of the council, Abbas Bolin Ajala, in the presence of the State Minister at the Ministry of Justice, William Ajal Deng, and Chairman of the Executive Office of the South Sudan Government in Khartoum Taban Gerima.
Head of the delegation explained that while formulating the draft constitution they have taken into account the Sudan Interim Constitution for 2005, South Sudan Constitution for 2005, directives of the Ministry of Justice and the draft constitutions of the some southern States that had been submitted to the ministry before.
The minister welcomed the delegation and praised the efforts of the legislative Assembly of Western Equatoria State.
He informed the delegation that the draft constitution would be studied by the committee entrusted with such issues before its ratification and getting assured about its compatibility with the national Interim Constitution.
