Chad says rebel attacks launched from Sudan
Oct 25, 2006 (N’DJAMENA) — Chad’s government said on Wednesday rebels who attacked towns in the country’s southeast, raising fears of a strike on the capital N’Djamena, had launched their assault from neighbouring Sudan.
“Last Sunday a column of motorised and armed adventurers, coming from Sudan, launched an operation to destabilise Chad,” Communication Minister Hourmadji Moussa Doumgor said in a statement.
“The international community must understand that Chad is the victim of a blatant aggression led from Sudanese territory with sophisticated weaponry,” the statement said.
