Ugandan LRA reportedly kill two Sudanese

Oct 27, 2006 (KAMPALA) — A week after the ambush in which about 40 Sudanese civilians were killed in Juba, south Sudan, the LRA on Wednesday killed another two on Juba-Nisitu road, the Ugandan New Vision reported.

LRA_soldiers.jpgThe rebels also reportedly set ablaze three civilian vehicles, the army said.

“Two of the passengers who were in these vehicles survived but three are still missing and we don’t know their fate,” northern army spokesman Lt. Chris Magezi told journalists on Thursday.

He said this brings to 13, the number of civilian vehicles ambushed and burnt, over 40 civilians killed, more than 20 injured and others missing in attacks by LRA rebels since they resumed attacks last week.

“In the latest ambush on Wednesday at about 3:00pm, the rebels hit two civilian vehicles UAG 930L and NS 400L belonging to Knight Uganda between Juba-Nsitu bridge. a Fuso lorry was ambushed between Nimule and Juba in southern Sudan,” Magezi said.

He said SPLA soldiers were escorting civilian vehicles to avoid attacks but other roads were not adequately protected.
