Albashir Releases his Janjawwed in Darfur killing 63 Non-Combatants
October 31, 2006 — The National Redemption Front (NRF) confirms that government supported Janjaweed have attacked and burnt down several villages in Jabal Moon area in Western Darfur. The attack took place Sunday October 29th leaving 63 innocent civilians dead.
31 civilians were badly injured in the attack. In line with previous Janjaweed assaults, targets included women, children and elderly citizens. Thousands of fearful displaced victims are now fleeing Jabal Moon area in search of food and shelter.
The NRF strongly denounces this callous and inhumane attack on innocent civilians. The NRF will not hesitate to strike back in defence of its people.
We appeal to the United Nations, International NGOs and the AU to take immediate measures to prevent further attacks on Darfur civilians and to assist the newly displaced people.
