Nuer Community renews call for military support to Darfur rebels

Union of Nuer Community in North America (UNCONA)

National Congress Party Is an Enemy of Sudan

Press Release

Nov. 12, 2006 — We would like to assure our Sudanese brothers that the decision taken by the Nuer community in North America is irreversible. Nuer people are not known for reversing their decisions. The Nuer fought the colonial British forces for twenty nine years. History of Sudan attests that the Nuer were the last tribe to surrender to colonialism.

Before reaching the decision to support the Darfur’s National Redemption Front (NRF), the Supreme Council was intellectually engaged for three days to find out the problem of the Sudan. We asked ourselves serious questions regarding the political situation of our country. Why black and white in South Africa, U.S.A. and other countries could live in peace and unity while Sudanese ethnic groups could not? What is the political decadence that caused most civil wars in the country threatening its unity?

The problem of the Sudan, as the Supreme Council diagnosed, is National Congress Party. The history of the Sudan would testify that the problem between North and South has always been worsened by Muslim brotherhood, which later mutated into National Islamic Front (NIF)—and it is currently known as NCP. They were Muslim Brothers who killed 1965 Roundtable Conference between the North and the South. They were also Islamists like Dr. Turabi who mentally, religiously and spiritually converted President Numeiri to the vision of radical Islam to dismantle the 1972 Addis Ababa Agreement. It was also the NIF that overthrew democratically elected government in 1989 to prevent DUP and UMMA parties from concluding Koka Dam Peace process with SPLM/A.

It is the same NIF (NCP) that signed Khartoum and Pashoda peace agreements in 1997 and later used the documents as toilet papers. The same NCP has now made it abundantly clear that they would cancel the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA). In a nutshell, the Sudan’s Islamic fundamentalist party like NCP cannot sign an agreement that it would honor. Every agreement, whether signed by Communists, UMMA or DUP, is always dismantled or derailed by nobody other than the Islamists who are now in power.

The so-called Darfur Peace Agreement is not an agreement. It is a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Minawi, African Union and the NCP. The real representatives of the people of Darfur have not yet signed any agreement with the NCP. If the international community wants to end the conflict, a new agreement has to be negotiated. If not, the people of the Sudan will get rid of NCP by any means possible.

The Sudanese people should clearly understand that the threat to unity in the country is NCP, a neo-Nazi party that does not respect human rights, civil liberties and religious diversity. Sudan cannot unite under a brutal, tyrannical religious theocracy. It can only unite under a democratic system. Blacks and Whites in South Africa coexist because the government is democratic. The same thing is true for other Western countries. However, Sudan under NCP has become an example of genocide, ethnic cleansing, raping, and looting. The genocide in Darfur will be followed by genocide in Dongola or Blue Nile Province if the Sudanese do not unite to liberate the country from the NCP. The objective of NCP is not to transform Sudan but power. Omar Bashir will even ethnically cleanse his own Arab tribe just to maintain power. The Islamists do not give a damn about the future of the country.

The Nuer community has come to logical conclusion to lead a new Sudanese revolution that would return our country to democratic path. Military solution is the only appropriate way to liberate Sudan. The NCP—in its history—has never honored any agreement it signed. Therefore, we urge all South Sudanese to join their Northern bothers to liberate our country from ruthless black Talibans. The NCP has officially declared the cancellation of CPA. There is nothing left for South Sudan to wait.

We call for Intifadha to restore the respect of Sudan. Every Sudanese, from the North and South, must know that there are two ways of liberating a country: popular uprising and armed struggle. Sudan needs to properly utilize both so that a revolutionary understanding is created between the Sudanese people. The genocide in Darfur will not end in Darfur. It will reach people in Dongola, Kosti, Kassala, Damazine and every part of our country as long as the NCP is in power.

We call upon Ethiopia, Kenya, and Uganda not to repatriate refugees to Sudan before the total liberation of the country. UNCONA will send a delegation to the horn of Africa countries to talk to refugees not to go to Sudan and be murdered by the security forces of the NCP. Since the UNHCR does not always force refugees to go back home, we encourage the Sudanese refugees to wait for the liberation of our country.

We call on NRF to resume the armed struggle to stop the ongoing genocide. The Nuer community is hereby assuring the people of Darfur that they would not be alone in their struggle. The threat to peace in Darfur, is a threat to peace everywhere in Sudan. Genocide in Dongola is also genocide in Juba. The Sudanese people must die together or survive together.

Long Live the Struggle for Democracy in Sudan!!

Down with NCP!!

Down Omar Bashir!!

Long Live the Unity of Sudanese people against radical Islam!!
