Sudanese, British ministers discuss cooperation

KHARTOUM, Dec 11, 2003 (SUNA) — The minister of international cooperation, Yusuf Sulayman Takana, Wednesday received the visiting British minister of international development, Hilary Benn, and discussed the plan of Britain for cooperation with Sudan in the fields of services and financial and judicial reform, capacity building and combating of poverty.

Takana said that the British minister’s visit aims to affirm the British government’s role for the achievement of a just peace in Sudan.

He appreciated the contribution of Britain to the Nuba Mountains’ cease-fire agreement, the handling of Sudan indebtedness issue and organization of donors’ conferences.

Meanwhile, the British minister affirmed Britain’s keenness to contribute to the realization of peace in Sudan and to contribute to the delivery of humanitarian and technical aid and the resettlement of displaced and refugees.
