Sudanese president invites Turkish investors to his country
CAIRO, Dec 11, 2003 (Anadolu Agency) — Health Minister Recep Akdag said on Thursday that Sudanese President Umar Hasan Ahmad al-Bashir invited Turkish investors to his country.
Akdag, who returned from Sudan, told reporters at Egyptian capital Cairo that he visited Sudan by a delegation comprised of officials of the Ministry and 40 businessmen.
Health Minister Akdag said that they attended a health fair in Sudan and met with Sudanese Health Minister, Foreign Minister, Minister of Investments, External Trade Minister and Khartoum Governor.
Sudanese President Umar Hasan Ahmad al-Bashir instructed all ministries to lift bureaucratic hurdles to pave the way for especially Turkish businessmen, Akdag noted.
Akdag said, ”we visited hospitals and health centers. We visited a business center built by a Turkish company. We visited a hospital which was constructed in 1996 and which is the sister hospital of Zekai Tahir Burak hospital in Ankara. We saw that the hospital was in bad situation. Our Ministry will renovate this hospital together with the private sector and Zekai Tahir Burak hospital.”
Health Minister Akdag expressed belief that Turkish businessmen would achieve significant projects in Sudan soon.
Meanwhile, Vatan Hospitals Group Executive Board Chairman Azmi Ofluoglu said that they would build a hospital having an advanced technology in Khartoum and noted that thus, Sudanese people would not need to go abroad for treatment.
