Sudan business meeting to be held in Paris on 29 Nov
Nov 20, 2006 (LONDON) — A workshop is to be held in Paris, France, on Nov. 29 to discuss business opportunities in Sudan, a joint statement issued by the Paris- based French-Arab Chamber of Commerce, Africa House and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry said Monday.
The statement said the workshop, entitled “Sudan, A Market To Discover”, would push investments in the areas of consumer goods, equipment, food processing, pharmaceuticals, power, sugar, and transport.
Sudan’s energy and mining minister, Awad Ahmed al-Jaz, and investment minister, Malek Agar Ayar, are to address French businessmen at the workshop as well as Vincent Schneiter, the French Charge d’Affaires in Khartoum, the statement said.
Sudan’s economy is traditionally agricultural, but Sudan is developing its oil infrastructure, and currently produces around 500,000 barrels a day.
