Press statement
December 4, 2006 — We are deeply shocked and saddened by the news of Malakal tragic incident which claimed the innocent lives of over 400 people.
We extend our deep and sincere condolences to the southern people at large and to the parents and relatives of those who lost their lives in that tragic incident on 28-29th Nov, 2006. It is regrettable that the root causes of this incident date back to 2years and should have been resolved earlier.
The South has lived through ages of wars of which we lost more than 4-6 millions in the last 50 years. We must recognize the importance of every person and treat him with care and equality rather than thinking of elimination. It is high time to value the lives of our people and thus we should always give priority to dialogue whenever resolving our problems.
The south Sudan Democratic Forum strongly deplores that tragic incident and condemns who ever are the culprits.

Secretary General,
