Sudan’s WES Governor Abujohn hospitalized in Kampala
Dec 13, 2006 (LONODN) — Western Equatoria State Governor General Samuel Abujohn lost consciousness yesterday and was in a critical condition in Yambio before being flown to Kampala for treatment. An evacuation plane was chartered to fly the sick elderly Governor to Kampala for emergency treatment.
According to Charles Kisanga, chairperson of Zande World-wide Community Organisation (ZWWCO), General Abujohn had lost consciousness following serious drinking habit.
Upon arrival at Entebbe airport in the afternoon of yesterday, 12th December 2006, the Governor was immediately rushed to a Kampala hospital where he was admitted and today his condition is said to be very serious.
The Governor returned from Juba recently where he had failed miserably in persuading Lt Gen Salva Kiir to reshuffle the old cabinet of the former WES governor, Col Patrick Zamoi, so that he could appoint his new corrupt cronies.
After returning back to Yambio the Governor became very hostile and making a lot of threats and indulging himself in heavy drinking to console his disappointment with Lt Gen Salva Kiir and Dr. Riek Machar.
A few days before being hospitalized now in Kampala a family member from Yambio said that the Governor was close to death from heavy drinking because of his problems with GoSS.
The ZWWCO organized a campaign in favour of the former governor Zamoi who was dismissed from his office on June 15th, 2006 following accusation of corruption and incitement to tribal conflict.
