Governor of Darfur region imposes curfew on provincial capital
KHARTOUM, Dec 17, 2003 (SUNA) — The governor of Southern Darfur State, Staff Lt- Gen Adam Hamid Musa, has issued emergency decree number five of 2003, imposing a curfew in the town of Nyala starting today from 10 p.m. to 6.30 a.m.
The decree also imposed a ban on vehicles from moving in and out of Nyala town from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. The decree stated that anyone disobeying it will be held answerable in accordance with the Emergency Law of 1998, which was amended in 2000.
The governor had issued a similar decree imposing a curfew in the town during an attack on Al-Fashir town on 7 May. The curfew continued until it was lifted in September.
