Sudanese president arrives in Saudi Arabia for Pilgrimage

Dec 26, 2006 (MEDINA, Saudi Arabia) — President Omar al-Bashir and accompanying delegation arrived yesterday to al-Medina where he visited the prophet’s mosque in the beginning of his visit to Saudi Arabia for pilgrimage.

Al-Bashir was received upon reaching the prophet’s mosque by officials from the prophet’s mosque affairs department and commander of the guard of the mosque.

A duty for every able-bodied Muslim at least once in a lifetime, the five-day ritual in the birthplace of Islam begins this Friday.
