Sudan’s ruling party slams the timing of Saddam execution

Dec 31, 2006 (KHARTOUM) — Sudanese Ruling Party has expressed its regrets over the execution of former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein in the first day of the Eid al-Adha celebrations.

In a statement it issued Sunday, the National Congress Party denounced the timing of Saddam’s execution in the first day of the holy Eid al-Adha, “a matter which was regarded as an addition to the increasing American criminal account in the region.”

The ruling party slammed the hanging of Saddam Hussein saying it came in the context of the American attempts to implement its so-called project of the New Middle East.

The state minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ali Karti, in a statement last evening, said the court proceedings were not legitimate and that the execution was carried out while Iraq is still under occupation.

Karti said that the United States is losing daily, whereas the conditions at the area proved the flagrant failure of the American and British policy toward Iraq.

The foreign affairs ministry condemned yesterday the execution of the former Iraqi president saying it was not sentenced at the nation’s will or decision.
