Sudan wants enhanced trade with Pakistan
Jan 9, 2007 (KARACHI) — Governor of Khartoum Dr Abdul Haleem Al-Matafi has invited Pakistani industrialists to invest in Sudan, saying the country’s economic environment was conducive for investment.
Speaking at a reception hosted in his honour by the former chairman of Nooriabad Association of Trade and Industry, Fazal Karim Dadabhoy, he said the Sudanese government was formulating a comprehensive policy for strengthening economy. He said Sudanese government wanted to enhance trade with Pakistan.
He said the credibility of Sudan was affected by the war. “When we took control of our oil reserves from the American companies, they closed oil wells. However, we resumed production of oil with the cooperation of Malaysian government and today Sudan is an exporter of oil,” he said.
Fazal Karim Dadabhoy said that Sudanese entrepreneurs should come to Pakistan and take benefit of the country’s commercial, industrial and investment policies. He said currently Karachi was the best city of the country for investment. He said the traders of both countries should visit each other to look for opportunities.
