Chinese company to construct power lines in Northern State

KHARTOUM, Dec 22, 2003 (SUNA) — A contract for implementation of transport lines of Merowe Dam electricity generation station is to be signed here Tuesday with Chinese Harbin Company at the cost of 400m dollars.

An official source at the implementation unit of Merowe Dam project said in statement to the Sudanese news agency (SUNA) that the contract is considered one of the biggest and last contract to be concluded by the unit for implementation of the various stages of the project, in which construction work at the site of the dam has started since June 2003.
