Darfur NRF welcomes Sudan’s elimination from African presidency
Jan 29, 2007 (LONDON) — The rebel National Redemption Front welcomed the election of the African Union decision to choose Ghanaian leader John Kufuor for the presidency of the organization.
The NFR spokesperson, Ahmed Hussein Adam has greeted the exclusion of the Sudanese candidacy to the chairmanship of the African Union. He described this decision as “victory for the humanity generally and the people of Darfur particularly”.
Adam said the NRF hopes fully that President Kufuor will boost the democratization of the Au and would put pressure on the Sudanese regime to resolve Darfur crisis peacefully.
Adam said Sudanese government should understand that it could not continue to kill Darfur people with a total impunity.
The expressed hopes that the Ghanaian president will promote dialogue and make the African body also a forum of African people.
The NFR had warned to fight the AU forces if Sudan is elected at the AU chairmanship.
