Eritrean, Sudanese ruling parties reject foreign intervention
Feb 13, 2007 (KHARTOUM) — Sudan and Eritrea ruling political parties expressed their rejection to any foreign intervention, considering it as attempt to recolonize the region, the official SUNA said.
The National Congress Party (NCP) and the ruling Eritrean People’s Front for Democracy and Justice ( PFDJ) have affirmed their total rejection to all foreign intervention attempts for re-colonization of the area and their determination to thwart attempts to impose hegemony through more joint strategic coordination in all domains.
The Deputy Chairman of the NCP, Nafie Ali Nafie, and the Secretary General of the PFDJ, Al-Amin Mohammed Saeed, Tuesday co-chaired a meeting for the joint political committee of the two parties at the NC’s headquarters in Khartoum.
The two sides stressed the importance of coordinating stances at all the international forums as well as working to unify the African stances in order to maintain the security and independence of the area as well as empowering the regional organizations in order to confront the international hegemony.
Nafie stressed the importance of scheduling the implementation of the joint agreements as well as including these agreements in the programmes of the executive organs.
He commended the work of the joint Sudanese-Eritrean ministerial committee under the auspices of the Presidents of the two countries, Omer Al-Bashir and Isias Afeworki.
Meanwhile, the Secretary General of the PFDJ, Al-Amin Mohammed Saeed, affirmed that the relations linking the two sisterly countries are ancient and deep-rooted, calling for boosting these relations more and more, particularly in the economic domains, roads, telecommunications, etc in order to facilitate movement of trade and services.
The meeting endorsed the agreements signed between the two sides in domains of youth, students and women and stressed the importance of implementing these agreements in order to realize the interests and aspirations of the peoples of the two countries.
