Sudanese al-Bashir invites Chadian Deby to visit Khartoum

Feb 22, 2007 (TRIPOLI) — At the end of the quadripartite meeting held in Tripoli yesterday, the Sudanese president, Omar Hassan al-Bashir, extended an invitation to his Chadian counterpart Idriss Deby to visit Sudan, the Libyan Jana reported.

This invitation embodies the agreement reached at this summit, in which the two countries committed themselves to implement the Tripoli Peace Accord they signed on 8 February 2006 under the auspices of the Libyan leader.

Bashir and Deby had agreed to “implement honestly” an accord they struck in February 2006 requiring they stop insurgents setting up bases on their territories and end propaganda against one another.

Sudan, Chad and the CAR signed an agreement last week on the sidelines of the France-Arica summit in Cannes to stop any form of support for each other’s rebels.
