Chairman of Darfur authority to visit Libya
Feb 24, 2007 (KHARTOUM) — The Senior Presidential Assistant and chairman of the interim authority of Darfur, Minni Arkoi Minawi, will leave next Wednesday 28 February for Libya to attend the Libyan celebrations marking establishment of the People’s Rule, scheduled to be on March 2nd.
Minawi is expected to hold talks with Libyan official on the Libyan Eritrean efforts to help for a lasting peace in Darfur. He also would meet Darfur holdout leaders.
He will be accompanied by the state minister at the Ministry of Federal Government and Secretary General of Sudan Liberation Movement, Mustafa Tirab, the official SUNA reported.
Tirab said that Minawi will meet during his visit with Libyan officials and discuss implementation of Darfur Peace Agreement. He said that Minawi would also meet in Libya with leaders of factions that did sign Darfur Peace Agreement.
Tirab said that members of Sudan Liberation Movement are maintaining contacts with groups inside Sudan toward the unity of rank, especially that the military leaders are committed to the cease-fire.
