Trade exhibition launched in Ethiopia before Ethiopia, Sudan, Yemen summit

ADDIS ABABA, Dec 29, 2003 (Xinhua) — The Trade and Culture Exhibition organized in connection with the 2nd Summit of Ethiopia, the Sudan and Yemen Cooperation Forum was launched here Monday.

Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi, Sudanese President Omar Hassan Al-Beshir and President Ali Abdellah Salah of Yemen inaugurated the exhibition.

Various companies from the three countries have displayed their products at the exhibition.

Also on the same day, the three leaders will start their meeting which will deliberate on issues of political, economic and social cooperation. They are also expected to discuss peace and security in the region.

It is reported that Ethiopia, Yemen and the Sudan will sign a trilateral cooperation charter at the summit.

The main purpose of the cooperation forum is to further enhance the economic, cultural, investment and people-to-people relations among the three countries.

The first summit was held in Sana, capital of Yemen, in October 2002.
