UK Shilluk distance themselves from Shilluk Congress

Public Statement

The Position of Shilluk Community in the United Kingdom and Ireland

March 10, 2007 — Pachodo Welfare Association in the United kingdom and Ireland (PWA) has been monitoring with great concern, the two public statements issued by an organisation called Shilluk International Congress (SIC) on the South Sudan website on Saturday 24th of February and Monday the 4th of March 2007 respectively.

In their last public statement, the members of that organisation alleged that their organisation was founded on the 21st of December 2006 by the intellectual of Collo (Shilluk) Community living in Australia, Europe and North America.

As the largest Collo (Shilluk) community living in Europe, Pachodo Welfare Association (PWA) is not aware of the very existence of that organisation nor has it participated in the formation of that organisation in any way or by any means.

Pachodo Welfare Association (PWA) in the UK and Ireland is hereby informing the Southern Sudan Community in general and the Collo (Shilluk) Community in particular that we are not a party to the Shilluk International Congress (SIC). We have no knowledge of having taken part in the formation of that organisation and therefore, are not a party to the public statements they issued.
