Arab League chief meets leader of Sudanese National Democratic Alliance

CAIRO, 30 Dec 30, 2003 (MENA) — Secretary-General of the Arab League Amr Musa received on Tuesday leader of the Sudanese National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Muhammad Uthman al-Mirghani.

Al-Mirghani presented to AL chief an official copy of the framework accord recently concluded in Jedda between Al-Mirghani and Sudanese First Vice-President Ali Uthman Taha in a bid to reach a peaceful settlement in Sudan.

Al-Mirghani expressed hope the ongoing peace talks between the government and the Sudanese People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) would help restore to peace, security and stability in Sudan.

They also discussed the role of the fund, established by the Arab League, to rehabilitate the southern war-ravaged areas.
