Sudanese president, deputy governor discuss Rumbek University
March 17, 2007 (KHARTOUM) – Sudanese President, and the Deputy Governor of the Lakes Sates today discussed the creation of Rumbek University and a number of development projects in the State.
According to the state-run, SUNA, the President Omar al-Bashir has discussed Saturday with the Deputy Governor of Lakes State, Lt. Colonel Deng Nok Marial preparation to establish the University of Rumbek.
During a visit last year to the Lakes State, al-Bashir had pledged to open a university and since the issue was raised by the First Vice-President many times.
Marial said he also discussed with al-Bashir the construction of Wankay – Rumbek road, Rombek Hospital and the airport.
Rumbek University would be the fourth university in southern Sudan. The first Juba University is operating now in Khartoum but preparations are underway to reloacate it to the capital of southern Sudan. The Upper Nile University started to relocate its faculties from Khartoum to Renk and Malakal towns.
