South Sudan reshuffles Lakes State government

March 22, 2007 (RUMBEK) — President of Southern Sudan government last week carried out the first reshuffle of the government of Lakes states on the demand of the lakes state governor who is named last year to replace another governor.
On the request of the governor of Lakes State, Daniel Awet Akot, the President of the Government of Southern Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, on March 15 relieved the deputy governor, the minister of local government and the minister of health in the Lakes. He also dismissed three advisors for political affairs, security and economic affairs.
Salva Kiir had removed the former governor, John Lat and named Daniel Awet Akot, last September, following accusations of accused of corruption, and involvement in the incitement that led to the inter-clan clashes in their regions.
The following is the two lists of the relieved and appointed official
Relieved officials
1. Mr. David Nok Marial, Deputy Governor and state minister of education.
2. Mr. Gordon Maker Abol, State minister for Local Government and Law Enforcement Agencies.
3. Mr. Michael Mabor Makuei, State minister of Health.
