Opposition alliance denies reports January meeting in Eritrea cancelled

KHARTOUM, Jan 02, 2003 — The vice-chairman of the [opposition] National [Democratic] Alliance party [NDA], Gen Abd-al-Rahman Sa’id, has confirmed that the NDA leadership will hold a meeting in Asmara [Eritrea] in the current month of January.

At the same time, Sa’id denied reports that Eritrea had refused to host the meeting.

In a statement to Al-Sahafa newspaper, Sa’id said that NDA leader [Muhammad Uthman al-Mirghani] has not received any letter from Eritrean President Isayas Aferwerki cancelling the meeting
