Press Release
Date: March 27, 2007
The Ad hoc Committee of the National SPLM Women League is hereby issuing this press statement, to announce the initial step toward implementation of the Tennessee conference resolutions by having a historic meeting with all women in Omaha, Nebraska on April 22, 2007.
The founding mission of the SPLM Women League (SPLMWL) is to unite and empower Sudanese women within the SPLM leadership and for them to gain membership; with the vision of advocacy, political dialogue and practical involvement in the affairs of Sudan
It is definitely an important time in our history in the perspective of CPA the Comprehensive Peace Agreement, that youth and women have to take advantage of peace in Sudan to develop them selves, because they are the leaders of tomorrow and they are the only people can bring peace and reconciliation to the people of the Southern Sudan.
Therefore, this is the time that women can actively participate in the some process of rebuilding our country positively, especially in this new millennium whereby the entire world is already aware of how strong women can be when they are given their role to play in any government institution.
So, I am calling upon all (men & women,) of Nebraska including all people from other states to be there and participate by taking a positive action in implementing and achieving our ultimate vision. Moreover, in sharing ideas and participating – in … making our voice heard … and knowing with understanding the actions of the movement is an integral part of our development process.
