Sudan, Vietnam to develop bilateral cooperation
March 28, 2007 (HANOI) — Sudanese presidential aide wrapped-un a three-day visit to Vietnam where he and ruling communist official agreed to boost the bilateral cooperation.
Nafie Ali Nafie, assistant of the Sudanese President, paid a visit to Vietnam from March 25 to 28, 2007. He agreed with Vietnam’s president, President Nguyen Minh Triet, to develop cooperation between the two countries in all fields.
Vietnam wishes to promote friendly ties and multifaceted co-operation with Sudan, President Nguyen Minh Triet told the visiting Assistant to the Sudanese President, Nafie Ali Nafie, in Hanoi on March 27.
The State leader stressed that Vietnam and Sudan hold great potential for further co-operation in agriculture, health care, education and personnel training, and that the two countries should increase the exchange of visits at all levels to work out concrete co-operation programmes.
Nafie Ali conveyed Sudanese President Omar Hassan Al Bashir’s regards and invitation to visit Sudan to President Triet.
The Sudanese official thanked Vietnam for its support in the international arena and affirmed that Sudan always wants to intensify bilateral relations with Vietnam.
Earlier, Nafie Ali held talks with Director of the State President’s Office Nguyen Van Chien, met with State President Nguyen Minh Triet and Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung.
He also had working sessions with the Head of the External Affairs Commission of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, Nguyen Van Son, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat, Minister of Fisheries Ta Quang Ngoc, Minister of Industry Hoang Trung Hai and Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN) executives.
During their meetings, host and guest informed each other of developments in their respective countries and discussed measures to boost co-operation in economy, commerce, agriculture, oil and gas, aquaculture and fisheries.
The Sudanese side highly valued the socio-economic achievements recorded by Vietnam over the past two decades of renovation as well as its independent, self-reliant, multi-lateral and diversified foreign policy which has helped boost the country’s integration process.
The guest also congratulated Vietnam on successfully holding the 14th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Hanoi in November, 2006 and its recent WTO membership.
The Sudanese President aide highly valued the outcome of his current visit, citing major agreements with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Industry, the Ministry of Fisheries and PVN.
The Vietnamese side affirmed its policy to develop traditional ties and multi-faceted co-operation with Sudan.
The host also pledged to work together with Sudan to develop economic ties between the two countries in a dynamic and effective manner.
The two sides expressed belief that their relations would usher in a new stage of development.
