South Sudan denies sentencing Kenyan to death for murder

April 5, 2007 (NAIROBI) — The southern Sudanese government has denied that it has sentenced a Kenyan truck driver to death for murder.

Head of Southern Sudan office of liaison to Kenya, John Duku, said accounts provided by the Kenyan trucker’s association are not only inaccurate but the places named do not exist.

The government of South Sudan has rejected claims that it arrested the driver.

“The story they told us is different from what is written in this document here. There is a contradiction what they told us when we met them here the first day and what document they brought here.” John Andruga Duku told the NTV.

“So what we want to test is that why there is (?discrepancies) on this information because it is a straightforward thing. If you have somebody arrested on this point and this is the incident, the story cannot change. ” he added.
