Al-Bashir promises the Sudanese with peaceful, stable life
KHARTOUM, Jan 8, 2004 (KUNA) — Sudanese President Omar Hassan Al-Bashir promised on Thursday the Sudanese people to enjoy a new life, in light of peace, stability and balanced future development, after conducting the agreement on dividing the wealth with the Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA).
In a speech delivered before the Council of Ministers’ celebration of its golden Jubilee, Al-Bashir said, his country is advancing towards a flourishing era, free from wars and sufferings.
Al-Bashir confirmed that in the upcoming of phase, will be a difficult one because it requires great efforts to reconstruct the country and restore confidence among the Sudanese.
Also the next stage requires specifying and developing the government’s performance and addressing future challenges from a comprehensive perspective.
The Sudanese government and the SPLA have signed yesterday an agreement to divide the wealth, after 35 days of negotiations between the Sudanese First Vice-President Ali Osman Taha and the leader of the SPLA John Garang.
Garang announced yesterday that his SPLA will release all Sudanese POWs, detained since the start of the war in 1983 in amove to restore confidence between both parties.
