Paulino Matip calls for calm in South Sudan

May 10, 2007 (NAIROBI) — Former South Sudan Defense Forces leader who integrated Sudan People’s Liberation Army earlier last year urged calm in the south saying he is in a good heath and would be back to the country soon.

The Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the SPLA, Lieutenant General Paulino Matip, has called for calm in southern Sudan in response to widespread rumors that he died in a South African hospital last week.

Paulino told Sudan Radio Service from Nairobi “I am in Nairobi. I have come back from South Africa and the disease I went to seek treatment for in South Africa has been treated and I am healthy now, planning to go back to my duty station.”

General Matip called the rumor of his death “a fabrication” by those he called “the enemies of peace” in Sudan. He also threatened to track down those responsible for the rumor.

“We are investigating where this rumor came from. Whether it will be found or not, we will still find the person slowly because it’s disturbing a lot. If that person who did this in my name is found, whether it’s one person or two, three or four, the southern Sudanese or Sudanese will hear what will be done to them.”

General Matip also said he wants to assure the people of southern Sudan that the Juba Declaration, the agreement intended to integrate his militia into the SPLA, is in intact and asked his supporters not be disturbed by the rumor.

He said he will return to Juba soon to resume his duties.

On January 8, 2006, General Paulino Matip signed Juba Declaration on Unity and Integration between the Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) And the South Sudan Defence Forces (SSDF). But up to now, the integration of Paulino forces in Southern Sudan army is not yet achieved and there is a growing frustration among his troops.

Southren Sudanese are not satisfied with Garang’s death as a big lost and advantage to Arabs our common enemies so they wish Matip to die if you wish death let Bashir represent that and you might be a killer if you have such but wishes. i have read Matip’s speech and iam happy with his representation and he is a true leader as he siad “those who produce the rumors are enemies of peace and advicing the myophics Sudanese in diasphora on poping thier nose into SSDF relatoinship with the SPLA to calm” MABURUK Gen. Matip for you seriouse concern on stuggling for freedom. your movement SSDF and the SPLA are the Garang please continue with that spirit i add yu anther 100 years and shame on those who wish death they die before you. but on your statement on disciplinig those rumor mongers please forgive them it is a request form me a simple S Sudan nationalist Australia. io urge S. The widespread rumors of the death of the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the SPLA, Paulino Matip Nhial, to me, are endeavors of the enemies of Southern Sudan to star at the re-integration of the SSDF into the SPLA to form a strong army for South Sudan.

The rumors spread in Juba in the morning and was seen with the Arab traders not opening their shops that day. Does it mean that only the Arab traders have unique information flow from the whole population of Juba?
It means that they had co-coordinated with their companions back in the North.

The so-called are Arab-traders in Juba are not merely traders but security mediators.
    Watch out about them!

Still, Matip and his sanctuary have got to be watchdogs. The Arab devices to finishing our ‘Big fish’ in plane crashes!

They – long term enemies of the South Sudanese are tragedy-hungry and fancy making the Southerners hear heart-breaking news every year they live to live a weary lives and vote for unity at the end of the day.

They can make anything endangering the life of Southerners but will never inherit the Junub for bad!

In fact, losing Matip just one and a half year after Garang darkens the future destiny of the South.

Well, no one will live the earth for eternity but Matip will never fail to witness the salvation of the New Sudan.

The day rumor-mongering filled the air in the Sudan, the Northern media were pretentious in reporting these incidents alleging that death of Matip in the Kenyan airway plane that Crashed in Cameroon.

People who wish him sudden death are alerting his life security and he will have to live longer than they wish.

May God pay them in their deed!

South Sudanese must be aware that the CPA has been put into crisis by Salva Kiir and his advisors. The Juba declaration is now going to two years and non could think that SSDF is still with no money and no food for the last one year and half. Wether Paulino die or not, the south will be somalized very soon and this will put or cancel the CPA forgood. I am sad to see people are taking millions of dollars and deneies others, and for any war which will take place, is well justifies. Matip will live, but wether he live or not, we will not be a united southerners for years to come.

The News about General Paulino Matip pain me when i went to konyokonyo market, in the morning. I begun asking questions, why? how? and… no answer from the hearers.

Then i begun to remmeber the pass how Matip have save the southerners in Khartoum, yes he really monitor us dought some of our southern sudanese has gone a head with the heor Dr. Garang, that time was not easy in Khartoum, without General Matip.
Thanks alot, May God our father in Heaven bless you, May he give you wisdom to guard us in peace.

The rumuor is to brack down our peace, the more they cause remuor the more we become more united, we know that, they may pray day and night for our leadrs to death all, God will not accept such pray of desturction to his people.

Re-integration of SSDF to the SPLA is also our problem in the south and the other forces around, what is preventing them not to be join to the SPLA and SPLM?

Then our leaders should have eyes to see behind and a head too. this groups have fought all in one way or other ways for the success of southern Sudan,in defences of our people.

In all General Paulino, Deputy Commander in chief of the SPLA, will live longer than how the enemies wishes, there remuor is a blessing,God gives and God takes, not man.
We are guarded by God’s power.

Southern Sudan has many enemies, now days, we do not know who? but we can see their action, there word are good,

Yes about the integration of SSDF to to the SPLA and the other forces waiting just, since up to now is a question mark??

“Now you word, wether he die or not South may be somalized very soon, and this will put an end to the CPA”. am saying this can not help us, let find the wrong element and throw out, yes there are many who want to desthrow us throught our leaders.

We call the arabs jalaba, because they do us what had been done now, who are the jalaba then now?
“Again, for any war which will take place, is well justified”.

Yes we cann’t fight now, we need to care for the CPA, then that will be seen later. when we are alone, we know ourself better and we can reconcile too. easily.

Let us to try to guard our leaders and give them words of wisdom, so as they see the good and bad things done in our comminities in south Sudan.

I pray that we shall be united southerners in the future to form a strong southern sudanese with one heart and mind.
In all we put God to be our salvation.
