ICRC, rebel SPLM officials in talks on release of POWs

KHARTOUM, Jan 10, 2004 — The representative of the International Committee of the Red Cross yesterday discussed with a delegation of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement [SPLM] led by, Nhial Deng, modalities of releasing prisoners of wars. This follows the initiative announced by SPLM leader Dr John Garang to release the POWs.

SPLM official Spokesman Yasir Arman, told AL-Sahafah newspaper that the meeting represents the first meeting which will be followed by others to get the modalities of how to release the POWs as announced by Garang.
