November 5, 2021 (KHARTOUM) – South Sudanese Presidential Adviser returned to Juba on Friday as the ongoing efforts to settle the Sudanese crisis did not achieve tangible progress.

On the first of November, Tut Gatluak flanked with Foreign Minister Mayiik Ayii Deng and Minister of Investment Dhieu Mathok arrived in Khartoum calling for a comprehensive dialogue in Sudan after the military takeover and detention of Prime Minister Abdallah Hamdok and other officials.

Before his arrival to Khartoum, South Sudanese President  Salva Kiir called for the release of the political leaders and expressed fears that the ongoing crisis would affect the South Sudanese brokered peace agreement and political stability in his country.

On Friday Gutluak left the Sudanese capital after talks with the military leaders and Hamdok on the way forward to restore the transitional authority in Sudan.

In addition to the Sudanese crisis, Gatluak told the Sudan Tribune he discussed with the Sudanese military officials the transfer of talks with the leaders of the SPLM-IO splinter faction to Juba.

Sudan mediates talks between the South Sudanese government and a breakaway faction led by the former SPLA-IO chief of staff Simon Dual Gatwech.

Gatwech he resides in Sudan declined the offer of the South Sudanese government.

The South Sudanese delegation also met with Yasir Arman Deputy Chairman of the SPLM-N Agar but did not make a statement on his detention conditions.

The SPLM-N led by Malik Agar requested the peace guarantors including Juba to ensure Arman’s release as he is among the political detainees arrested after the coup, on October 25.

Mediators from the African Union and the UNITAMS did not succeed to convince the coup leaders to restore the transitional government.

The military leaders refuse to re-establish the transitional government and seek to impose a number of measures that would lead to amending the constitutional declaration governing the transition in Sudan.
